Eligible applicants must be qualified teachers enrolled part- or full-time in a PhD or Part 2 of the EdD in the Division of Education at the University of Waikato. They must have confirmed enrolment status, a minimum GPA of A- in their most recent 240 points of study, and be conducting research in curriculum development and teacher effectiveness.

Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students undertaking research in the areas of curriculum development and teacher effectiveness within the Division of Education at the University of Waikato.
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a qualified teacher
Be enrolled part- or full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Part 2 of the Doctor of Education (EdD) in the Division of Education at the University of Waikato
Have gained confirmed enrolment status (i.e., have completed the conditional enrolment period of six to nine months)
Have achieved a minimum grade-point-average (GPA) of A- in the most recent 240 points of study
Be undertaking research in the areas of curriculum development and teacher effectiveness
Not have been a previous recipient of this Scholarship
For international students: must have completed at least 120 points of study at a New Zealand university.

An outline of their (proposed) research topic
Evidence of their teaching qualification
A copy of the most recent doctoral progress report
An official copy of any academic transcripts (including grading scale) from any other tertiary institution(s) attended, other than the University of Waikato
If applicable, a copy of any publications or other academic outputs
Applicants must also request the submission of an academic reference.
Benefits
The Peter Freyberg Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance of $7,500 to a student undertaking doctoral research in the Division of Education in the areas of curriculum development and teacher effectiveness. The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient as soon as practicable after acceptance.
