With the aim of providing a world-class education to highly qualified students, the University of Graz is offering International Merit Scholarships for the academic session 2024/2025.
To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must meet specific criteria depending on their program level. For bachelor’s and master’s programs, this includes maintaining a minimum GPA and completing a specified number of ECTS credit points within the entitled study period. Doctoral candidates must achieve high academic standards in their theses and examinations.

- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for any subject offered by the University of Graz.
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- For Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs
- Compliance with the entitlement period (legally stipulated period of study plus one additional semester)
- Grade point average of no worse than 2.0
- Evidence of at least 48 ECTS credit points completed during the assessment period
- Adherence to good scientific practice and no unauthorized methods to obtain achievements
- For the Doctoral Program in Business, Economics, and Social Sciences
- Completion of the Doctoral Program within the entitlement period
- Doctoral Thesis graded “Excellent (1)” or “Good (2)”
- Grade point average of all course examinations not worse than 1.5
- Doctoral Exam and Thesis Defense graded “Excellent (1)” or “Good (2)”
- Adherence to good scientific practice
- For Supplementary Programs
- Completion of at least 34 ECTS credit points of the supplementary program in the assessment period
- Grade point average of 1.5 or less
- Adherence to the specified duration of the supplementary program
- For All Study Programs of the School of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences
- Free elective courses and Career-oriented Internships are not considered
- Recognitions considered only if within the assessment period
- “Successful completion of a course” only used if insufficient other courses
- Completion dates of October or March are considered in the preceding semester

- Submit the documents in one PDF file electronically. Incomplete applications or applications with missing/deficient documentation will not be considered.
- Selection Process: If the number of eligible applications exceeds the scholarships available, ranking will be based on grade point average and, if necessary, ECTS credit points or completed semester hours.
- Notification: Applicants will be informed of the decision in writing. There is no legal entitlement to the award.
- Benefits
- Scholarships range from EUR 750 to EUR 3,600, awarded under private sector administration by the Dean of Students, independent of the social need of the applicant.
